I Think I'm in Love

Well love is a strong word, perhaps a serious man crush is more appropriate.

Ok that isn't appropriate either.

It started with some hero worship, now it (whatever it is) is out of control.

To whom are my affections directed?

Dr. Thomas Sowell.

How can an 81 year old man from Harlem and a 47 year old man from Canada have so much in common? Maybe so much in common isn't the right term. How can we think the same on almost every single issue known to mankind?

I have watched and posted his interviews and am now reading The Thomas Sowell Reader. This is a compilation of his essays and columns from his entire career.

I am laughing out loud and shaking my head in amazement with almost every page.

The saddest thing I can think about this man is that he has pretty much been ignored by the main stream media.

I don't think they like his message.

The truth hurts.

I want to quote you the whole book.

Please read it.

If you can't muster up the energy to read the whole book try this little snippet.

What did Winston Churchill say about socialism?
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
Ah yes that was it.

I've been a big fan of Thomas Sowell since first stumbling onto one of his columns about a year or so ago. Unfortunately in the U.S. we have a president who wants nothing to do with teaching personal responsibility and self-reliance. It doesn't fit into his class warfare scenario (socialism) that he so much wants to promote under the radar.

lol...I first saw Sowell's stuff in his much younger days, with Friedman no less....they had the same concepts...both brilliant and logical....Sowell is only less famous simply because (I think) Friedman had extraordinary oratorical skills.

YM - seems to me that the Bama man is Harvey Two Face....he talks socialism but his actions are promoting and solidifying crony capitalism.........and this guy is better than the other guys..one shudders. You should send Ron Paul up here...we'll elect him!

Hi everyone (not only Solfest :), its Big here.

I have questions to you (that appeared to me after reading this Ivan and Boris article by Sowell).

1) Do you think that comparing CEO's to TV/sport stars is correct?
2) Do you think that TV/sport stars should earn hundreds/thousands more than US president or dectors' working 24/h saving lives in hospital?
3) Don't you think that people aren't focused on CEO's pay like Sowell suggest but rather they see their pay as a symbol of corporation's dominance?
4) Don't you think that rescuing bank system (that failed and caused the crisis) by artifical money inflows resembles is very socialist?

I think every US citizen should send me just 1$. Its so small amount nobody would even notice but I'd have my goat. Please guys, send me 1$ and don't focus, as Sowell suggest, on my goat...
